Alessandro Rossi

I am Lecturer in Logic & Metaphysics at the University of St Andrews, and a member of the Arché Research Centre for Logic, Language, Metaphysics and Epistemology.

Before joining St Andrews, I was  Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Programme Director for the Philosophy & AI MA at Northeastern University London.

I primarily work on philosophical and formal logic, and metaphysics. I also have a strong interest in the Philosophy of AI, particularly in AI Ethics and the applications of Paraconsistent Logic to AI.  My research interests also include the history of early modern philosophy (particularly  Leibniz), and the philosophy of religion.

I obtained my PhD from the University of St. Andrews and the Arché Research Centre (2021), under the supervision of Kevin Scharp and Aaron Contoir. During my PhD, I was also a Visiting Scholar at the City University of New York, supervised by Graham Priest. Prior to my PhD, I obtained an MPhil in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, an MA in Philosophy from the University of Pisa, and a BA in Philosophy  from the Gregorian University  of Rome.

My students can consult the Teaching section of this website. You will find there my slides for logic, metaphysics and also  a little guide I put together containing my tips for writing good philosophy essays.
